     Job Summary

    • Post: Artisan Production Grade A–C (Mechanical)
    • Salary: R243 597 – R408 048 per annum (OSD)
    • Centre: Upper Vaal (Vaal Dam)

    Requirements and Expectations

    Minimum Requirements

    • An appropriate Trade Test Certificate (Fitter and Turner).
    • Two (2) years of relevant working experience after obtaining the Trade Test Certificate will serve as an added advantage.
    • The disclosure of a valid, unexpired driver’s license.
    • Willingness to perform production duties and overtime work when required.
    • Knowledge and application of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993).
    • Computer literacy (MS Word and Excel).
    • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills.
    • Sound knowledge of production and mechanical processes.
    • Ability to work independently and under pressure.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Perform maintenance and repair of mechanical installations and equipment, including dams, reservoirs, departmental houses, pump stations, machinery, dam walls, and pipelines.
    • Inspect mechanical equipment for technical faults and conduct repairs in line with approved standards.
    • Service and maintain equipment according to scheduled maintenance plans.
    • Compile, monitor, and evaluate maintenance schedules and projects, ensuring compliance with specifications and standard operating procedures.
    • Supervise and control the use of tools, stock, materials, and mechanical equipment within the area office.
    • Perform administrative and reporting functions, including completing job cards and divisional work schedules.
    • Ensure compliance with occupational safety standards and departmental policies.
    • Demonstrate a willingness to travel, perform standby duties, work long hours, and maintain performance under pressure.

    Note

    • Candidates will be required to complete a practical test as part of the interview process.
