RPO Recruitment’s client, a leading materials and infrastructure company is seeking an experienced Asphalt Branch Manager to oversee full operational, technical, and commercial performance of its production facility in Bloemfontein.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day plant operations to ensure efficient, high-quality asphalt production
Drive continuous improvement of production systems, processes, and operational policies
Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programmes to maximise plant uptime
Ensure effective spares control, inventory management, and logistics coordination
Plan production in line with sales forecasts and customer demand
Support budgeting, cost control, and operational performance tracking
Manage dispatch and delivery logistics to ensure on-time product supply
Lead, develop, and mentor production, maintenance, and logistics teams
Promote a strong safety, quality, and performance-driven culture
Build and maintain strong customer relationships and service levels
Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical Engineering, or related field
Additional business or operations management qualification advantageous
8–10 years’ manufacturing/production experience, with at least 3 years in a management role
Strong background in plant operations and mechanical maintenance
Proven experience in logistics, supply chain, and production planning
Solid understanding of asphalt plant operations and manufacturing processes
Knowledge of QA/QC systems, maintenance planning, and HSE standards
Strong leadership and team management capability
Computer literate (MS Office) with exposure to operational systems
Valid driver’s licence and own transport
Willingness to relocate on short notice
Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Hands-on, proactive leadership style with ability to perform under pressure
