Assistant Buyer - Edenvale at Barron

Job Purpose

The purpose of the Assistant Buyer is to assist the buyer to provide a balanced assortment of merchandise in order to achieve sales budgets, gross profit and gross profit percentage by conducting product research, product sourcing and evaluating the range’s performance.

Job Objectives and Functions

Product development

• Assist the Buyer in building a product range by conducting research and finding potential suppliers (MOQs, lead times, payment terms and pricing of products) Assist the Buyer in building a product range by conducting research and finding potential suppliers (MOQs, lead times, payment terms and pricing of products)

Product Sourcing

• Responsible for placing indent orders by providing sales with quotes that include the cost of the product and shipping (airfreight)
• Responsible for placing approved indent orders
• Responsible for placing normal orders on the system and following up on when the products will be delivered

Product descriptions

• Responsible for checking the website and catalogues to confirm whether the stock descriptions are correct and that the colour availability is reflecting on the system
• Market intelligence
• Responsible for compiling a report that illustrates the competitor’s products and prices, supplier’s product and prices and potential new products based on sales demands / trends / request
