Assistant Director: Financial Reporting at Western Cape Government

Job Purpose    

• The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent and suitably qualified individual to promote sound financial reporting. This post is stationed in Cape Town, CBD.

Minimum Requirements    

• An appropriate 3-year B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Financial Management
• A minimum of 3 years relevant supervisory experience.

Key Performance Areas    

• Monitoring and compiling of financial reporting; Overall assessment and compilation of the Interim and Annual financial statements
• Conduct appropriate system maintenance and monitoring and perform month/year-end closure in compliance with the guidelines issued by National and Provincial Treasury; Managing the pre-audit process
• Management of staff.

Competencies    

• Knowledge of the following: Public Finance Management Act;The Treasury Regulations and Finance Instructions
• Transversal public sector accounting systems.
• Skills needed: Computer literacy in MS Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email)
• Written and verbal communication; People Management; Research; Presentation.
