    Assistant Manager Nursing: Non Communicable Diseases and Palliative Care (PN-A7)

    Requirements:

    • Matric plus basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) OR a 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse. Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
    • A minimum of 8 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognisable experience at management level. Valid drivers licence.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • In depth knowledge on the prevention, management and control of Non-Communicable Diseases. Knowledge of National Strategic Plan on the prevention and control of Non-Communicable Diseases and National Policy Framework and Strategy on Palliative Care.
    • Knowledge of the key stakeholders and their relevancy. Ability to assist in formulation of patient care related policies. Ability to teach and train staff within a team. Appropriate understanding of nursing scope of practice and nursing standards.
    • Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentation). Planning, organising, leading, controlling, delegation, supervisory, communication, motivation, decision-making and problem solving. Basic understanding of HR and financial policies and practices.

    Duties:

    • Ensure the development and implementation of policy guidelines and protocols for Non-Communicable Diseases and Palliative Care. Ensure the development and implementation of policy guidelines and strategic or operational plans.
    • Maintain service satisfaction through training and quality improvement. Ensure staff development and performance management by implementation of related human resource policies.
    • Ensure effective utilisation of resources in line with applicable PFMA and Supply Chain Management policies. Ensure implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the programme and related contracts.
