Assistant Manager: Scientific Manager at Govan Mbeki Municipality

ANNUAL BASIC SALARY: R 726 696.00 (Post Level 04) plus normal company benefits including travelling

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• National Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Analytical Chemistry, Watercare or equivalent qualification.
• B-tech in Chemistry or Water Reticulation will serve as an added advantage
• Five (5) to eight (8) years’ relevant experience in water quality laboratory and/or wastewater treatment, of which two (2) years must be at supervisory level.
• Experience in local government Waste Water Treatment Works will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of relevant Local Government Legislation and water reticulation systems and policies
• Computer Literacy (MS Office)
• Valid Code B Driver’s License

The successful applicant / candidate must possess competencies as published in Annexure A of the Local Government: Municipal Staff Regulations promulgated in Government Gazette 45181 of 20 September 2021
Key Performance Areas:

• Manage laboratory, training and liaison capacity building, monitoring and surveying.
• Manage operation and purification at water treatment works
• Sampling water schemes and surface water, monitoring, surveying and sampling of sewage works.
• Manage and assist in rendering administration and supervisory support.
• Compile and present monthly reports to Department of Water and Sanitation via water forums.
• Manage the process of implementing and enforcing the National Water Act 36 of 1998, Water Services Act and DWS Water Services Policies.
• Knowledge of Blue Drop and Green Drop regulatory programs; as well as South African National Standards (SANS 241) for drinking water quality.
• Interpret water and wastewater quality analytical results.
• Manage waterborne outbreaks and reporting.
• Monitor and inspect of the Water Services works and infrastructure.
• Implement resolutions and policies.
• Manage and control the sectional budget.
• Manage subordinates in terms of Human Resources and Performance Management
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the Municipal by-law and tariff structure.
• Implement and maintain Health and Safety Standards.
