    Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer (ommunity & Health Sciences -> Psychology)

    The successful candidate for Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:

    • Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the field of psychology. 
    • Conduct research and publish in peer reviewed journals.
    • Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision.
    • Provide academic leadership and administration.
    • Undertake curriculum development and assessment.
    • Participate in community engagement and outreach.
    • Developing industry and academic partnerships.
    • Responsible for administrative duties within the department, faculty and the university.

    Minimum Requirements

    At the level of Associate Professor 

    • A PhD in Psychology.
    • Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching, preferably in the field of clinical and/or research psychology.
    • Evidence of expertise, national standing, and preferably an international presence in his/her discipline.
    • The integration of community engagement for societal impact with learning and teaching and/or research.
    • Applicants with a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology must be registered with the HPCSA in the relevant category.
    • Applicants with a Master's degree in Research Psychology must be registered or registrable with the HPCSA in the relevant category.
    • A current record of successful research supervision at Masters level. 
    • Experience of doctoral level supervision. 
    • A current record of successful peer reviewed publications.
    • Evidence of leading involvement in departmental and university committees. 

    At the level of Senior Lecturer

    • A PhD in Psychology.
    • Applicants with a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology must be registered with the HPCSA in the relevant category.
    • Applicants with a Master's degree in Research Psychology must be registered or registrable with the HPCSA in the relevant category.
    • Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. 
    • Postgraduate research supervision experience.
    • A current record of successful peer reviewed publications.

    Added advantages

    • Registration with the HPCSA in the category of Clinical or Research Psychology. 
    • Experience and interest in neuropsychology.
