Boilermaker - Eland at Northam Platinum

Job description
Northam Eland Platinum Mine has an exciting opportunity for a Boilermaker who will be responsible to provide specialist mechanical support to the mine for the achievement of production performance levels. The incumbent is responsible to conduct planned maintenance and installation of mechanical equipment and machinery Guided by our purpose and values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to promote ”Smart Platinum Mining ”, delivering on metals (PGMs) including platinum, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium.

Qualifications

• NQF level 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or Adult Senior Certificate) with English literacy or N2 in Engineering studies
• Completed formal Learnership programme prior to obtaining an Boilermaker artisan trade certificate (Sect 13 or 26 D) as recognised by the MQA

Experience

• At least Three (3) years’ experience as a Boilermaker in underground mining environment:
• Extensive experience and knowledge on Conveyor Belt Installations, Chairlift Installations, Pipe Fabrication, Transfer Chute Fabrication, underground Trackless Mobile Machinery and underground Water Reticulation

Key performance areas

• As our Boilermaker some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 
• Adherence to safe work procedures
• Perform maintenance of equipment, installations and fabrications to standards and specifications
• All maintenance, installations and construction work must be inspected and checked for quality purposes
• Adherence to maintenance schedules and completion of associated job reports
• Attending to mechanical breakdowns and be available for standby duties
• Escalation of unresolved breakdowns or unsuccessful maintenance, installation and Constructions to the line supervisor
• Adherence to document control standards and procedures

• Medical Certificate of Fitness
• Valid drivers license with own transport
