Bookkeeper - Pietermaritzburg at Accountancy Placements

• Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their team.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, journals, and trial balances
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including supplier and customer reconciliations
• Process payroll (leave) and ensure compliance with SARS, UIF, and PAYE regulations
• Manage VAT, EMP201, and other statutory submissions
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies
• Ensure adherence to internal controls
• Maintain accurate records for trust accounts (if applicable), in line with LPC or industry-specific regulations
• Ensure compliance with POPIA, Companies Act, and other relevant legislation
• Prepare and process pay-overs to ensure accuracy, timely execution, and compliance with applicable financial and regulatory requirements
• Attend to any related queries or follow-ups as needed

Requirements

• Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong administration skills, with the ability to drive processes daily
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Microsoft Excel
