    Position purpose: To understand business requirements and processes and identify business technology and/or process & information opportunities, working with business and IT managers to develop, implement and maintain solutions which deliver business value within agreed timelines and budgets.


    Responsibilities

    •  Establishing the contribution that technology can make to business objectives using a range of techniques such as eliciting and documenting requirements with stakeholders, conducting feasibility studies, producing business models, preparing business cases, usability requirements analysis and usability evaluation.
    •  Identifying and obtaining agreement on the requirements / features which will be most beneficial to the business.
    •  Ensuring compliance with agreed best practices by selecting appropriately from applicable standards, methods, tools and applications.
    •  Identifying and raising issues impacting the execution of strategic / operational / project plans.
    •  Understanding overall Enterprise Architecture and assess degree of conformance of existing and new business processes.
    •  Overseeing implementation of solutions – checking against the initial requirements
    •  Influencing team and specialist peers internally, customers at account level and suppliers.
    •  Making decisions which influence the success of projects and team objectives
    •  Demonstrating an analytical and systematic approach to problem solving.
    •  Communicating fluently orally and in writing, presenting complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    •  Facilitating collaboration between stakeholders who share common objectives.
    •  Planning, scheduling and monitoring work to meet time and quality targets and in accordance with relevant legislation and procedures.
    •  Rapidly absorbing new technical information and applying it effectively.
    •  Appreciating of the wider field of information systems, their use in relevant employment areas and how they relate to the business activities


    Qualifications

    Essential Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related field, Masters preferred or equivalent combination of education/experience

    Desirable Qualifications

    •  Project Management certification, such as PMP, CAPM or PRINCE2
    • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt

    Experience

    •  Experience within an IT focussed role.
    •  Experience of the project lifecycle.
    •  Proven success in improving the customer experience.
    •  Experience working within a matrix structure.


    Skills and Knowledge

    Stakeholder relationship management

    •  Collects and uses feedback from customers and stakeholders to help measure effectiveness of stakeholder management.
    •  Helps develop and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships.

    Business process testing

    •  Specifies and develops test scenarios to test that new/updated processes deliver improved ways of working for the end user at the same time as delivering efficiencies and planned business benefits.
    •  Records and analyses test results and report any unexpected or unsatisfactory outcomes.
    •  Uses test plans and outcomes to specify user instructions.

    Business Analysis

    •  Investigates operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes.
    •  Assists in the analysis of stakeholder objectives, and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems and identifies options for consideration.
    •  Identifies potential benefits, and available options for consideration. Works with clients/users in defining acceptance tests.


    Requirements definition and management

    •  Facilitates scoping and business priority-setting for change initiatives of medium size and complexity.
    •  Contributes to selection of the most appropriate means of representing business requirements in the context of a specific change initiative, ensuring traceability back to source.
    •  Discovers and analyses requirements for fitness for purpose as well as adherence to business objectives and consistency, challenging positively as appropriate.
    •  Obtains formal agreement by stakeholders and recipients to scope and requirements and establishes a base-line on which delivery of a solution can commence.
    •  Manages requests for and the application of changes to base-lined requirements.
    •  Identifies the impact on business requirements of interim (eg migration) scenarios as well as the required end position.

    Data analysis

    •  Investigates corporate data requirements, and applies data analysis, data modelling and quality assurance techniques, to establish, modify or maintain data structures and their associated components (entity descriptions, relationship descriptions, attribute definitions).
    •  Provides advice and guidance to database designers and others using the data structures and associated components.

    Business user analysis

    •  Applies tools and methods to identify the user experience, users characteristics and tasks, and the technical, organisational and physical environment in which the product or system will operate.

    Technical and business knowledge

    •  Experience in logistics and transportation industry will be an advantage
    •  Experience of a TMS and SAP
    •  Understanding of EDI and API concepts
