Business Development Consultant at Communicate Recruitment

Salary: R30 000 - R40 000 per month

• Are you a commercially driven Business Development professional who thrives on building relationships, creating opportunities, and winning new business from the ground up?
• We’re looking for an entrepreneurial BD professional to join a growing financial services environment, with a strong focus on SME lending, partnerships, lead generation and market expansion.

What you’ll be doing

• Build and manage a strong pipeline of new clients, partners and referral sources.
• Identify, secure and grow relationships with lead providers, affiliates, merchants and strategic partners.
• Drive new SME customer acquisition from initial engagement through to conversion.
• Develop and expand referral and acquisition channels.
• Represent the business at networking events, industry forums and community platforms.
• Build meaningful relationships across relevant business and financial services communities.
• Manage partner relationships and ensure high-quality service and engagement.
• Use CRM systems effectively to manage your pipeline, activities and opportunities.
• Research market trends, competitor activity and customer needs to identify new commercial opportunities.
• Work closely with Marketing and Operations to execute effective sales and marketing initiatives.
• Provide market intelligence and insights to help shape future products, channels and growth strategies.
• Take ownership of targets and continuously look for ways to improve business development performance.

What we’re looking for

• 3–5+ years’ experience in Business Development and Sales, ideally with at least 3 years in lending, banking or financial services.
• A proven track record of building and owning your own client, partner or referral book.
• Strong understanding of credit, lending and SME/business clients.
• Excellent networking, relationship-building and influencing skills.
• Confident communication and presentation abilities.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the competitive lending environment.
• Experience using CRM systems and managing a structured sales pipeline.
• Resilient, target-driven and comfortable operating in a high-volume, high-decline-rate environment.
• A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset — you enjoy creating something rather than simply managing what already exists.
• A relevant Bachelor’s degree is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle are essential.
