The company is looking for a Business Development Manager to fill a position at Pidelta

Responsibilities
EXPAND THE PECAN NUT OPERATION
Sourcing

• Find reliable, cost-effective sources of nuts to increase the output of the plant.
• Do costing of nuts and put on the stock.
• Ensure that sourced nuts adhere to expected quality standards.

Production

• Work closely with current producers to maximize yields & deliveries to the processing plant.

Stock Control

• Implement control measures to prevent losses of products (pre-and post-processed)
• Monitors recovery rate and implements corrective actions to improve.
• Ensure that the product is stored according to generally accepted best practice.
• Monitor stock levels and reconcile.

Processing

• Set up plant operations for the extraction/cracking of nuts.
• Ensure that nut plant operates at maximum efficiency rate.
• Update and submit monthly reports on recovery rate.

Packing

• Ensure nuts are packed as per procedures.

Marketing

• Develop a branding strategy in conjunction with the COO.
• Develop the brand and initiate brand-building opportunities.
• Grow brand awareness through effective signposting.
• Identify potential marketing opportunities for products and pursue these opportunities.
• Develop a pricing strategy to maximise the profitability of the operations.

Sales

• Initiate a sales strategy to increase the sales of products.
• Visit potential customers.
• Develop a variety of sales channels to minimize risk.

Value Add

• Research possible value add activities to the value chain.
• Motivate the Board
• Implement initiatives.

Expansion

• Execute growth strategy by identifying potential production farms to purchase and increase production.
• Continually identify new growers to ensure long-term raw nut supply.

Financial Management

• Draw up annual budgets for the different operations (KZN Pecan Processing)
• Manage operations according to budget.
• Execute against YTD. /MTD
• Implement corrective actions where deviations occur.
• Draw up and annual capex budget and execute against the budget.

People Management

• Plan the Human Resource needs for the various operations.
• Ensure that all employees have job descriptions.
• Ensure that all employees are organised to perform effectively and efficiently.
• Monitor the performance of employees

Management of Facilities

• Ensure that all facilities are always neat and well-maintained.
• Ensure the grounds and gardens are neat and support the image of the business and the group.
• Liaise with Wembley Construction regarding the maintenance of facilities.

Management of Equipment

• Ensure that all equipment at the Nut factory is put on inventory.
• Make sure that equipment is serviced as per supplier guidelines.
• Repair equipment where necessary to ensure continued serviceability of equipment.

Housekeeping

• Supervise the general housekeeping of the various facilities of the operations.
• Ensure housekeeping at the Processing plant to exult a professional image to external and internal customers.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
Education

• Min: Diploma or Degree in Business Management or equivalent
• Ideal: Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification
• Legal Requirements
• Drivers Lisence

Skills

• Computer literate
• Microsoft Office

Experience

• Min: Occupational Health & Safety Experience

Career path one should ideally follow before reaching the present position:

• Farm Manager (Pecan Nuts)– 5 year
• Processing Plant Supervision – 3 years
• Pecan industry exposure for 5 years
