    Business Development Sales Manager

    Principal Accountabilities:

    Grow sales and market share through sales activities:

    • Develop an overall sales strategy and plan for the various channels in the Private & Independent (P&I) schools’ market to achieve sales targets
    • Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs
    • Effectively utilise CRM systems (SalesForce) to plan and conduct cost efficient and effective sales activities
    • Analyse market share and sales in each district, region and province in S.A.
    • Understand Oxford University Press Southern Africa (OUPSA) position and USP’s in the market
    • Develop relationships and an understanding of the P&I Schools market and distribution channels which includes Booksellers and Trade accounts
    • Develop product relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    • Manage your Sales portfolio cost budgets effectively   
    • Lead, manage and develop high performing, talented staff to ensure optimal performance

    Requirements

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Relevant degree appropriate for business management, marketing or related fields
    • Experience in selling products to the Private and Independent (P&I) Schools market advantageous
    • 5 years business development management experience essential
    • 5 years senior management experience heading up a FMCG sales division advantageous
    • Driver’s license (Code B) and own vehicle
    • Strong business acumen skills
    • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrate capacity to foster business relationships
    • Experience of publishing environment, including both print and digital advantageous
    • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, analytical and written and verbal communication skills
