    Business Manager, Financial Markets

    Role description:

    • The successful candidate will support the South and Southern Africa Financial Markets (FM) Head in managing and running the local FM business.

    Responsibilities:

    Lead, manage and develop a high performing FM COO Southern Africa team by supporting the Southern Africa cluster FM Head and respective local Southern Africa FM Heads in the following activities:

    • Definition and execution of the regional FM strategy and business initiatives aligning with the global FM strategy.
    • Articulation of business performance and underperformance to stakeholders.
    • Running the Southern cluster Business Risk Forums (BRFs).
    • Supervision of FM, and oversight of Treasury Markets and Capital Markets Product Sales (CMPS) in the local dealing rooms, where applicable.
    • Business budgeting and forecasting where required.
    • Driving and management of a prudent cost and risk culture.

    In addition:

    • Delegate for FM Heads where required.
    • Partner with global and local stakeholders and partners to agree prioritise for execution.
    • Identification and unblocking of business issues.
    • Lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of operational risks in-country.
    • Establish and execute effective controls to measure, monitor, assess, report, and escalate risks (operational and regulatory) where appropriate.
    • Ensuring dealing room staff adhere to internal and external processes and procedures, and governance practices set out by the FM risk committees.
    • Supervise and coordinate in-country front office compliance reviews to ensure regulatory requirements are met and audits.
    • Support product launches locally.
    • Continuously seek out process simplification and process re-engineering opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
    • Keep up to date with local regulations to assess impact / business opportunities and manage any changes to business processes and infrastructure.
    • Import and export best practices with wider FM regional COO teams.
    • Provide business support on dealing room management, e.g. capacity planning, business continuity, access controls, Service Level Agreements, licensing, etc.
    • Represent the business when interacting with the support functions.

    Skills Required:

    • Knowledge of the Financial Markets business and products.
    • Strong analytical and presentation skills with an ability to understand / dissect complex problems.
    • Collaborative problem solver focusing on outcomes.
    • Comfortable working in a relatively unstructured, and multi-dimensional environment.
    • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills to clearly articulate ideas, issues and solutions.
    • Excellent project management skills.
    • Good attention to detail.
    • Excellent financial and performance management capability, including balance sheet management.
    • Experience in preparing business plans.
    • Strong risk, conduct & control background.
    • Strong Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
