A Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent to matric, a Basic qualification in nursing registered with the SANC in terms of Government Notice R425 (i.e. Diploma/Degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
A post basic qualification in an R212 or R48 programs. A qualifications in Nursing Education, Nursing Management/Administration or Health Service Management, the qualifications registered with the SANC.
Master’s Degree in Nursing, Health Service Management or Public Health (NQF level 9) as recognised by SAQA.
A minimum of 11 years of appropriate /recognizable nursing experience after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
At least 7 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognizable experience in Nursing Education after obtaining the one (1) year post-basic qualification in Nursing Education. and at least three(3) years must be appropriate/recognizable managerial experience at a Nursing College or Higher Nursing Education Institution.
Knowledge and understanding of the legislations, related regulations and policies in the public sector in particular in the health sector and management of a Nursing Training Institution or a Higher Nursing Education Institution. Valid Driver’s licence is an inherent requirement.
Computer Certificate or literacy. Competencies: Strategic capability and leadership, Programme and Project Management, Financial Management, Change Management, People Management and Empowerment. Service delivery innovation, Problem solving and analysis, Communication, Client orientation and customer focus.
Duties :
Develop, implement and monitor the strategic plans of the campus. Market the corporate image of the campus. Oversee the selection of students for enrolment with the campus in consultation with management and hospital Chief Executive Officers, Develop policy guidelines for nurse education and training. Provide learning and teaching resources.
Conduct quality assurance. Supervise setting of examination and commissioning examination results. Liase with statutory bodies and other institutions of Higher learning.
Manage support services (HR, Library, student affairs, counselling etc). Plan and monitor the implementation of a range of Nursing Education and Training programmes.
Lead academic oversight committees. Develop monitoring reports to ensure oversight committees are updated on developments in the institution. Lead strategic and operational planning of the institution and monitor operational planning of the institution.
Direct the total quality management system of the institution. Develop regular institutional performance reports. Manage financial and human resources.
