    Catering and Functions Manager

    Skills & requirements:

    • Culinary school diploma is essential, a degree in food service management orrelated field is advantageous;
    • Proven food and beverage management experience gained in a school environment is essential;
    • Previous experience gained with special dietsis essential;
    • Strong financial background (accounting);
    • Sound communication and leadership skills with the ability to delegate multiple tasks;
    • Ability to keep abreast with the latest in food and beverages trends and best practices;
    • Ability to manage personnel and meet financial targets;
    • Guest-oriented and service-minded;
    • Working knowledge of various computersoftware programmes, in particular MS Office;
    • Ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently;
    • Exceptional administration skills;
    • Good timekeeping and attention to detail;
    • Comfortable with working extended daily working hours/work weekends & public holidays;
    • Have the ability to work in a pressurised environment;
    • Hard-working,reliable, honest, enthusiastic and energetic;
    • Ability to promote and embrace diversity and inclusion;
    • First aid qualifications or prepared to obtain this;
    • Requisite clearance certificates

    Responsibilities

    • Managing all food, beverage, functions, coffee and tuck shop, and day-to-day operations within budgeted guidelines and to the higheststandards;
    • Effectively forecasting, budgeting, planning, and managing food and beverage orders,staff, and finances;
    • Ensure sound financial control of the department;
    • Leading the Catering Department team by attracting,recruiting, training and appraising staff;
    • Providing two-way communication and nurturing an ownership environment with an emphasis on motivation and teamwork;
    • Establishing targets, KPI’s,schedules, policies and procedures;
    • Preserving excellent levels of internal and external customer service;
    • Designing menus, purchasing goods and continuously making necessary improvements;
    • Identifying customer needs and responding proactively to all of their concerns;
    • Complying with all health and safety regulations;
    • Adhering to the policies of the School, in particular policies relating to the safeguarding of children;
    • General administration.
