    Chamber Manager

    Roles and responsibilities:

    • Develop an Operational Plan for the Chamber Unit in collaboration with the Senior Manager: Stakeholder Relations & Chambers.
    • Provide team with clear performance standards, job profiles and development plans.
    • Monitor progress to ensure successful implementation of plans and achievement of targets.
    • Ensure that the different systems and work processes in the allocated work areas are integrated and working properly.
    • Set up meeting where relevant to discuss future improvements.
    • Produce progress and information reports according to requirements
    • Manage the communication flow between the team members, internal clients as well as external service providers.
    • Assign work on a daily, weekly and monthly basis according to competency and skills levels.
    • Monitor reports and feedback received from team members to ensure assigned targets are being achieved and if not take immediate action.
    • Ensure that complaints received from business are resolved within required timelines.
    • Support the Senior Manager in the mobilization of industry stakeholders for SSP workshops, ensuring balanced representation from all relevant chamber industries.
    • Assist in the submission of sub-sector reports and data to inform the SSP.
    • Track and report on labour market trends, identifying industry-specific skills needs.
    • Support industry engagement to identify training needs and develop tailored skills development strategies.
    • Promote the application for discretionary grants and ensure stakeholders are informed of funding opportunities.
    • Implement the Chamber Operations WSP and ATR strategy in line with the Senior Manager’s guidance.
    • Assist with the analysis of WSP, ATR, and PIVOTAL data to identify trends and gaps in skills development.
    • Facilitate partnerships with workplaces and assessment centers to expand learning program reach.
    • Monitor learner throughput and assess the effectiveness of learning interventions.
    • Support the accreditation process for training providers in line with new occupational qualifications.
    • Assist in initiating partnerships with industry stakeholders for the development of occupational qualifications.
    • Support the public verification process and incorporate industry feedback into qualifications development.
    • Assist with the creation of assessment tools and learning materials with subject matter experts.
    • Provide regular updates on the progress of qualifications under development.
    • Manage the relationships and contracts with identified partners and service providers.
    • Facilitate and maintain effective stakeholder and business relationships through appropriate relationship building, networking and reporting activities.
    • Represent the organisation to stakeholders, associates and partners and maintain professional, effective and amicable relationships to ensure that CETA’s interests are upheld.
    • Liaise on a regular basis with all third parties and ensure that business relationships are maintained.
    • Address problems that are identified in the most appropriate manner.
    • Investigate problems and find suitable solutions.
    • Deal with customer queries and escalated issues from the unit.
    • Give inputs to Finance regarding the development of the annual budget.
    • Sound planning and forecasting of capital expenditure within the area of responsibility.
    • Manage costs against the approved budget.
    • Take full responsibility for the financial resources within the area of accountability.
    • Establish and implement procedures for the prioritisation of revenue-critical functions.
    • Constantly monitor the areas within the Special Projects that could create financial loss if not actioned or managed correctly.
    • Manage and check that payments are made to suppliers within the set requirement.
    • Coordinate the procurement function within the Section and ensure compliance with all CETA Supply Chain Management policies and procedures.
    • Ensure all Chambers activities adhere to relevant legal, regulatory, and industry standards.
    • Prepare and submit regular reports on compliance status, highlighting any potential risks or areas of non-compliance to Senior Manager: Stakeholder Relation & Chambers.
    • Perform ongoing risk assessments to identify and evaluate internal and external risks that could impact operations.
    • Work closely with the Senior Manager: Stakeholder Relation & Chambers to implement risk controls and ensure alignment with organizational risk management goals.
    • Monitor the progress of risk mitigation activities and escalate issues that require higher-level intervention.
    • Manage internal audits to assess the organization’s compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
    • Stay informed about regulatory changes and ensure that internal policies and procedures are updated promptly.
    • Communicate policy updates and regulatory changes to relevant teams and ensure timely implementation.
    • Build and lead an effective and cohesive team through the effective management of unit resources.
    • Drive the implementation of talent acquisition, succession planning, development, and retention strategies for the unit.
    • Ensure the enhancement of relevant knowledge and skills through continuous coaching, mentoring and nurturing of talent in the business unit.
    • Create a high-performance culture and manage team performance effectively by translating and communicating the annual performance goals and measures into individual work plans based on agreed upon objectives.
    • Ensure the working environment contributes to improving employee engagement, recognition and increased productivity.
    • Ensure the management of poor performance and disciplinary matters in line with the CETA’s policies and procedures.

     Minimum Job Inherent Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree (NQF7) in or equivalent
    • 6 years' experience in similar environment of which 3 years at supervisory level
