    • Continuously assess risks across all business areas, products, and operational processes, applying both qualitative and quantitative methods.
    • Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date risk register and taxonomy to guide management decision-making.
    • Design and implement risk reporting tools, dashboards, and metrics for executive and board-level oversight.
    • Provide timely updates and recommendations to senior leadership on emerging risks and potential mitigation actions.
    • Establish and maintain a risk management framework, policies, and procedures that meet or exceed industry best practices.
    • Chair or participate in relevant risk committees and ensure strong governance around decision-making.
    • Oversee compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and prudential standards, including Basel guidelines.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulators, auditors, and other oversight bodies on risk-related matters.
    • Foster a strong, organisation-wide culture of proactive risk awareness through training, communication, and leadership.
    • Partner with business leaders to integrate risk considerations into strategy, product development, and major initiatives.
    • Direct the organisation’s stress testing and scenario analysis programmes to evaluate resilience under adverse conditions.
    • Interpret stress test results and advise on capital adequacy, contingency planning, and strategic adjustments.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including rating agencies, industry groups, and regulators.
    • Lead and develop a high-performing risk team, providing coaching, mentoring, and career growth opportunities.
    • Oversee the credit risk function, including policy development, exposure management, and portfolio monitoring.
    • Ensure that credit practices align with regulatory requirements and the organisation’s overall risk appetite.
    • Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive financial crime prevention and detection strategy.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree in Business is preferred.
    • 10–15 years’ senior-level experience in risk management within financial services, with banking experience highly desirable.
    • Deep understanding of operational and credit risk management principles, regulatory frameworks, and Basel standards.
    • Strong background in financial modelling, compliance oversight, and fraud prevention.
    • Demonstrated success in managing regulatory relationships and navigating complex compliance environments.
    • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and influence at all levels.
    • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, with a track record of embedding a robust risk culture across an organisation.
