    Chief Safety Officer - Bronkhorstspruit

    RPO Recruitment's client is seeking a highly experienced and qualified Chief Safety Officer to join their team in Gauteng, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all safety-related activities within the mining industry, ensuring compliance with local and international safety regulations, developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
    • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards and risks
    • Collaborate with management and frontline employees to promote a culture of safety and accountability
    • Monitor and analyze safety incident data to identify trends and implement corrective actions where necessary
    • Provide safety training and resources to employees at all levels of the organization
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in safety management
    • Lead investigations into safety incidents and develop recommendations for preventive measures
    • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and industry organizations to stay informed of changes in safety regulations
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that safety considerations are integrated into all aspects of the organization's operations

    Essential Requirements:

    • National Diploma in Safety Management
    • COMSOC 1 & 2
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety management role within the mining industry
    • Knowledge of Health and Safety systems - Implementation and maintain
    • Knowledge of local and international safety regulations and standards
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
