    Civil Engineer - Pavements

    Job Description
    KEY ROLE: 

    • Experience as a Civil Engineer with specialization or bulk work experience as a Pavement Engineer or Materials Design Engineer, is required for this role based in Midrand with projects across the Transport & Infrastructure business unit. The Incumbent will utilize their qualifications and experience in Pavement Engineering to work within a team of professional engineers and technologists in delivering projects related to Roads, Highways & Pavements construction.  

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

    • Carry out investigations, surveys, pavement design, engineering calculations and preparation of working drawings and estimates. 
    • Assist with the preparation of cost estimates for working hours on project design 
    • Experienced with SANRAL projects
    • Perform duties related construction supervisor and Construction Contract Administration (delegated duties of the Contract Engineer) on projects 
    • Liaise with industry and contractor partners and participants to assist them with strategy & direction in materials and 
    • pavement engineering, technology and design 
    • Review technical submissions  
    • Detail oriented with strong skills in pavements analysis  
    • Client liaison and project management 
    • Construction management of pavements on civil project works 
    • Undertake pavement engineering tasks as part of project design development. 
    • Successfully interface with staff from a range of other disciplines (traffic, civil, planning, geotechnical, etc.) to support a 
    • diverse range of projects 
    • Grow and develop the  pavement engineering team, including interfacing with project directors, meeting with 
    • clients to develop and expand project oppertunities

    Qualifications

    • BEng or BSc Civil Engineering  
    • Professional Engineer candidate with ECSA, with registration imminent within the next 6-months
    • 5 to 7 years’ experience in a similar role  
    • Experience working on large, roads projects delivered to SANRAL or National/Provincial Road authorities
    • MEng beneficial
    • SANRAL Project Experience as assistant design specialist in pavements
