Civil Technologist/Technician - Consulting Industry
RPO Recruitment’s client, a leading consulting engineering firm in Cape Town is seeking a proactive Civil Technician or Technologist to join their Civil Engineering division.
The successful applicant will play a key role in managing and supervising civil engineering projects from early planning through to construction completion. This position blends technical site oversight with project coordination, quality assurance, and stakeholder communication.
Responsibilities:
Manage project planning, schedules, budgets, and documentation while coordinating with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
Supervise on-site construction, conduct assessments, and oversee civil works to ensure design and safety compliance.
Maintain quality assurance, perform material testing, issue site instructions, and ensure contractor adherence to specifications.
Handle quantity measurements, procurement planning, and efficient use of materials and resources.
Requirements:
National Diploma/BTech in Civil Engineering
BTech/MTech in Project Management advantageous
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in civil engineering and project management, with exposure to both public and private sector projects
Candidate registration with ECSA or eligible for registration
Knowledge of JBCC and NEC3/4 contract frameworks is strongly beneficial
Experience in housing and residential development projects, municipal infrastructure works, building maintenance and refurbishment, including heritage-sensitive sites, landfill, public works, and infrastructure upgrade projects preferred
Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities
Proficient in surveying, construction supervision, and quality control processes
Capable of managing multiple concurrent projects
Knowledge of construction safety practices and environmental compliance requirements
Strong report writing skills and proficiency in MS Word and Excel
Familiarity with ECSA/SACPCMP Stage 1–6 documentation
Ability to use AI-based tools for documentation, analysis, and productivity
On-site civil or building project experience essential
