    Client Structurer

    Purpose

    • The candidate will be responsible for the origination and sale of complex derivative and financial instruments in Broader Africa by keeping abreast of developments in the financial markets in which we operate in broader Africa and developing and enhancing relationships with our clients in these jurisdictions through the excellence of the service provided. It will involve originating risk management opportunities, financing opportunities and investment products for clients across jurisdictions in Broader Africa, across client bases and asset classes. The role requires the design and hedging of complex derivatives and financial instruments by keeping abreast of developments in financial markets, financial mathematics, accounting standards, legislation and statutory requirements This role will ensure that the structures designed balance out client needs, profitability and prudent risk management.

    Experience and Qualifications

    • Minimum Post-graduate Qualification in a Finance including Accounting or Law majors
    • CFA / Trading and Regulatory exams / Tax Diplomas (advantageous)
    • Minimum 8 years working experience in financial markets
    • Technical Pre-requisite
    • Strong in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
    • Good understanding of derivatives, financial instruments and financial market dynamics

    Responsibilities

    • Originating transactions by remaining alert to clients’ problems and opportunities in the market; Develop tactical plans to drive revenue growth
    • Identify potential problems clients are having
    • Manage multi-disciplinary cross divisional approach to a single client solution
    • Work with structuring to simplify complex back-end proposal for a cohesive front end solution
    • Be a strong team player and collaborate across teams and divisions for the benefit of the shareholder
    • Liaise effectively with legal and credit and other legal stakeholders
    • Draft proposals, presentations and present to client in an articulate fashion to secure the opportunity
    • Ensure regulations are incorporated in decision making and solution building
    • Manage budget and cost containment
    • Research trends in market and information for solution building
    • Understand the needs of portfolio managers in financial institutions in various jurisdictions across Africa
    • Understand the financial market risks applicable for corporate clients, cash flow and accounting impact of hedging solutions.
    • Understand the markets needs of DFI’s, sovereigns, corporates and non-bank financial institutions across Africa and those focused on Africa
    • Liaise with Traders confirming levels, liquidity and other market information as a transactions becomes more live
    • Where necessary book successful transactions in the relevant trading systems
    • Liaise with middle and back office to ensure issues that arise are addressed or escalated promptly (continue throughout transaction life cycle)
    • Build and maintain professional working relationships with all stakeholders, displaying excellent abilities to initiate dialogue, listen, advise, influence and negotiate to achieve win-win outcomes
    • Initiate meetings with key stakeholders to track progress, manage expectations and ensure stakeholders’ requirements are delivered
    • Preserves relationships despite airing conflicting views and seeks mutual gains when addressing conflicts
    • Anticipates consequences and adapts problem solving based on continual feedback
    • Act speedily to resolve problems, queries and complaints
