Cloud Architect at PayFast

About you

What you'll be doing

• Designing, developing, and deploying modular cloud-based systems.
• Optimize, scale, and build resiliency into the platforms
• Collaborating with development teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation
• Modifying and improving existing systems and processes.
• Educating teams on the implementation of new cloud technologies and initiatives.
• Developing and maintaining cloud solutions in accordance with best practices.
• Ensuring efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security.
• Identifying, analysing, and resolving infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
• Regularly reviewing existing systems and making recommendations for improvements.
• Ability to maintain workload in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or mathematics
• 3+ years of experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions, on any Cloud Platform (AWS, Azure)
• Solid understanding of Linux and Windows Server
• Proficiency in at least two of the following: Bash, Perl/Python, Java, Golang, C++, PHP
• SQL/DB administration/understanding
• Deep expertise in containers and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experienced in setting up monitoring, log aggregation and alerting
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Technical background in areas such as Networking or System Administration, Databases or Application technical support will be considered a plus
