    Collections Manager

    The Role

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced and highly energetic Collections / Credit Control Manager to join our team in Durban .
    The Collections Manager is responsible for the collection/recovery of all group revenue within pre-set targets and managing the activities of the credit control team, engaged in conducting ongoing debt collections on tenant accounts. The manager will also actively manage legal accounts assigned to the in-house legal team or outside agency for collection. 
    Duties:

    • Manage performance against budget / targets
    • Use experience in property collection to develop and execute an effective collections strategy for internal and external landlords
    • Liaise with relevant departments and Property managers and ensure debtor’s queries are resolved timeously
    • Early detection, management, and escalation of risk / defaulting clients to mitigate and/or minimise potential losses/exposure
    • Building and managing relationships across all key internal teams
    • Manage and continuously evaluate the credit and associated risks within the group portfolios
    • Ensure continuous improvement in the collection of arrears and improving collection strategies
    • Ensuring that the collection officer/s adhere to the objective and improve standard operating procedures
    • Actively ensure Collection Compliance
    • Management of debit orders
    • Review of refunds, credit notes, write offs, hand back and legal handovers with Property managers, before recommending approval
    • Retaining accurate record of all correspondence undertaken with the client and stakeholders
    • Assist in the recovery of possible write offs of monies not recovered from debtors
    • To ensure that all correspondence with customers are recorded both on paper and on the Acquired system.
    • Professional written and telephonic contact with customers that have defaulted on their monthly rental payments
    • Weekly Cashflow forecasting based on customer receipts & Collection targets
    • Review of daily collections against monthly targets and forecasts

    Requirements

    • Grade 12
    • Relevant degree and or Credit management qualification
    • 3 – 4 years’ experience in managing a debt collection team / portfolio
    • Experience in the rental or asset-based property industry a distinct advantage
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
    • Experience on MDA advantageous

    • Detail orientated.
    • Ability to deal with stressful situations.
    • Microsoft Applications, in particular Excel
    • Advanced knowledge of Accounting systems
