Compliance Officer - Johannesburg at Hollard Insurance

• To be the champion of all regulatory, governance and compliance matters for Hollard Group Risk in a first line role to assist management in its responsibility to comply with all relevant legislative requirements, business policies, industry frameworks and charters in order to eliminate or minimise compliance risks. 

Key Responsibilities

• Planning, scoping and managing compliance reviews as part of a Combined Model of Assurance,
• Documenting Compliance Risk Management Plans (CRMPs)
• Conduct/ coordinate compliance training initiatives
• Tracking and facilitating the resolution of compliance related findings and risks raised
• Coordinating and facilitating information requests from Regulators and Group functions on compliance matters
• Maintaining FAIS representative registers, processing debarments, assessing representative competency, onboarding Key Individuals and Juristic representatives
• Regular reporting to senior management on the status of compliance, the outcomes of the compliance programme and emerging legislation
• Keep abreast of developments, trends and changes in legislation impacting on Business and
• Identifying and assessing emerging legislation that will affect Hollard Life and performing impact assessments on legislative changes
• Advising and guiding business to assess control gaps and implement processes, policies and controls to achieve compliance with the new legislative legislation
• Providing Compliance advisory functions on regulatory and legislative matters

Required Knowledge and Experience    

• At least 5 years compliance experience.
• At least 5 years’ experience in Insurance,FAIS, and AML 
• Compliance experience, Long term Insurance Act, FICA& FAIS Act experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with senior management stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented, Organised, Self-managed.
• roactive and able to work under pressure.

Educational Requirements    

• Law degree, post graduate diploma in compliance will be advantageous
