    Computer Technician - IT General Support Services

    Duties    

    • Offering technical support, both remote and onsite, by means of configuring, installing and upgrading computer hardware (desktops, laptops, mobile devices and peripherals) and software according to IT standards and guidelines;
    • Performing regular routine updates according to security regulations to ensure that equipment performs optimally, data privacy is maintained, and devices are protected from attacks;
    • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and researching computer hardware and software failures or bugs, and providing solutions to restore functionality;
    • Maintaining accurate records or repairs and solutions on the call logging system for future reference;
    • Detecting and removing malware and viruses and assisting with cyber security incidents;
    • Generating reports addressing incidents and resolving problems within set service level agreements for management review when necessary;
    • Creating self-help guides and teaching users how to optimally utilise their devices;
    • Providing consultation to users in terms of technical specifications and procedures for e-waste removal;
    • Configuring new equipment (profile setup, data transfer, third party software and printer configurations) with the User State Migration Tool (USMT). 

    Job Requirements        

    • A NQF level 6 certification in an IT related field with one year relevant computer support experience, OR an A+ and N+ certification with two  years' relevant computer support experience;
    • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office;
    • A fundamental understanding of Apple hardware and software;
    • Knowledge of a ticketing system;
    • In-depth knowledge of computer hardware and networking;
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;
    • Excellent administrative skills;
    • Strong interpersonal skills in working with cross functional teams;
    • The ability to work independently and collaborative in a stressful, dynamic and fast paced environment;
    • Patience and empathy when dealing with individuals who may have varying technical skill levels.
