A relevant B degree / BTech relevant to Construction Health & Safety with full SACPCMP accreditation as a Construction Health and Safety Officer or higher
A minimum of 6 - 7 years’ relevant Construction Health & Safety experience
The incumbent should be physically fit
Must have good, effective verbal and written communication skills, including effective report writing abilities
A high degree in computer literacy is required
A valid driver’s licence and ability to travel extensive within the boundaries of the City to sites and beyond with own reliable transport
Key Performance Areas
Providing specialized Construction Health and Safety advisory services to Operations in order to ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation, policy and procedure, as required by the Construction Regulations of the OHS Act (No 85 of 1993).
Fulfil and perform duties of Construction H&S Officer Operations
Ensuring adherence and compliance with OHS legislation, policy, procedure, especially the requirements of the Construction Regulations
Inspecting and auditing construction sites
Attending to periodic site meetings as required
Attending site clarification meetings with City contractors or internal city construction teams
Assisting with project specific Construction H&S documentation for distribution to contractors or internal city construction teams – applicable construction H&S management system
Conducting ongoing construction risk assessments
Overseeing incident management, the reporting and investigation of project related incidents
Required to conduct site health and safety inductions, awareness trainings and tool box talks, to address specific hazards and risks in relation to the construction projects
Assisting with compilation and evaluation of effectiveness of project specific emergency response and preparedness plans
