    Consulting - Strategy - Technology Strategy & Transformation - Senior Manager

    Main purpose of role

    A Senior Manager is a critical leadership role in the Consulting structure with an expectation to support and drive service / business area strategic plans, management of multiple, complex project engagements, capability development and strengthening, client account development and business development through the effective management of self and team/s.

    Senior Managers are also key custodians of our purpose and values, often leading our client engagements and business development efforts. Senior Managers contribute towards execution of the business strategy by taking personal accountability for keeping short-term financial and operational performance on track, while in parallel contributing towards building the future business.

    Roles and responsibilities:

    • Demonstrates capability to advise clients in the Strategy, Operations & Digital competency areas such as strategy, business design, operations, operating model, and strategic cost transformation
    • Guides clients through decision making around critical strategy and organisational choices
    • Defines the actions needed and provides direction at the corporate, divisional and functional levels to accomplish a client’s long- term objectives

    • Anticipates challenges to strategy implementation and proactively develops plans to mitigate risks
    • Helps clients evaluate the success of the strategy based on establishing and monitoring qualitative and quantitative metrics
    • Uses insight-based approaches to help clients clarify priorities and develop a go-forward strategy to drive value into the business
    • Leverages industry trends to advise clients on how to create sustainable sources of advantage and differentiate their value proposition for future business growth, positioning them for long term competitiveness
    • Brings deep insights across clients and sectors to drive a client’s strategic choices around where to play, how to win, and how to configure the business to establish sustainable advantage and market position
    • Maintains expertise with end-to-end processes and leads clients through the decision-making process by considering cross-functional interdependencies
    • Leverages product, equipment and process expertise to drive value through execution approaches that consider short versus long-term value trade-offs, knowledge transfer, culture change, and capability building
    • Demonstrates an industry focus across one or more industries

    Qualifications

    Qualifications in any of the following would be a distinct advantage:

    • Commerce
    • Business Sciences
    • Finance
    • Economics (quantitative)
    • Engineering
    • Law
    • Sciences
    • Actuarial Science
    • Statistics
    • Mathematics
    • Whilst not a strict requirement, an MBA in the relevant field of study is a definite advantage.

    Experience required

    • Minimum 10 years’ experience. At least 5 years’ of these should be in a Technology Strategy and/or Transformation, IT Strategy or Enterprise Architecture focused role within management consulting or corporate strategy. At least 3 years of these should have been in a management role.

    Specialised capabilities

    • Technology Strategy: Ability to define and drive the client’s desired technology strategy and supporting business processes. Leads the design of the client’s IT operating model and strategy and ensures proper alignment between the business strategy and the supporting IT strategy throughout the development. Introduces relevant market trends for clients to consider for design enhancements and articulates their potential impact on the IT strategy. Integrates IT infrastructure and assets (e.g., data centers, servers/networks) into the strategy and defines how they can provide value to the organization.
    • Enterprise Architecture: Ability to leverage expertise with innovative IT platforms to support the client’s IT strategy. Maintains a macro-level, end-to-end view of the solution, and continuously evaluates recommended solutions based on their suitability to the client’s situation. Leads teams to design solutions for clients that challenge conventional thinking and deliver on business objectives. Define target state enterprise architecture and governance processes.
    • Application Rationalization: Ability to assess business applications across an organization to determine which applications should be kept, replaced, retired or consolidated.
    • Technology Spend Optimization:  Ability to identify Technology spend optimization and IT cost reduction opportunities. Ability to assess the current IT spend and analyze opportunities for technology spend optimization and avoidance.
    • Knowledge on latest Technology Trends: Stays current on emerging trends and technologies and uses to drive innovative solutions based on client’s desired functionality, improve the user experience and enhance IT service delivery. Can confidently engage with clients on leading trends such as Cloud, Social, Analytics, DevOps, IoT, AI, SaaS Platforms (Coupa, ServiceNow, etc.), Robotics Process Automation, etc.

    • Measurable: TOGAF (preferred), ITIL, COBIT and SAFE (beneficial but optional)
    • Input: Specialised Capability
    • Measurable: Need to be proficient and regarded as an SME in at least one of the TS&T Tribe Specialised Capabilities.  Need to be knowledgeable and able to engage with clients on all TS&T Tribe Specialised Capabilities.
