    Content Developer: Higher Education and TVET

    Purpose of this Position

    The Content Developer leads and manages the content creation for a product or service and may be required to lead projects under supervision. Working in-house as part of a project team. This role reports to the Content Lead.

    Key Responsibilities Measures

    Contribution to product strategy

    1. Research and understand market needs 2. Research and analyse curricula, evaluation criteria, local pedagogy, submission/tender requirements 3. Review and analyse competitor products/services 4. Generate product or service concept/vision for all components

    Financial management

    1. Prepare product budgets for sign-off (Forecast costs) 2. Manage product costs within approved budgets 3. Respond to budget queries and changes

    Content development

    1. Develop detailed specific product/service plan 2. Develop design spec and cover briefs 3. Develop detailed instructional design/digital brief 4. Develop detailed author/SME commissioning brief 5. Recruit appropriate authors/SMEs 6. Commission content/service according to detailed product plan 7. Provide continuous support during the writing/content development process 8. Review quality and conformity and provide feedback until content is approved

    Project management

    1. Create project schedule (forecast time) 2. Ensure that project is completed by due dates 3. Remain up to date with all admin duties and foster best practice

    Production support

    1. Ensure that the vision for the product is carried through the entire production process 2. Support Managing Editor during production phase by: · addressing content/author queries, · approving final artwork and photo selection, · reviewing first and artwork pages, · signing off and approving master set

    Collaboration

    1. Collaborate closely with colleagues during all stages of the project within the matrix 2. Contribute to development of content for marketing material

    Follow new trends and developments

    1. Stay abreast with new trends and developments in products/services, pedagogy and market needs

    Education

    • Relevant degree

    Experience

    • At least three to five years teaching and/or publishing experience and/or market related experience in the respective area of specialisation

    • Experience in the Higher Education or Vocational field
