The Role
Stitch is a developer-first API startup with a mission to deeply connect financial systems with the wider world. We provide an API which allows third-party apps and websites to interact with their user's bank accounts in ways that unlocks the ability for companies across Africa to build innovative technology products quickly.
Creating innovative financial products is incredibly difficult today, and we believe that unlocking the way people interact with their finances starts with enabling developers with the tools and infrastructure needed to execute on their vision.
We are looking for a talented content marketer who can help lead & define Stitch's content strategy, contributing across a number of formats & media such as long/short-form essays, press releases, blog posts, social media (Twitter & LinkedIn) and others. As Stitch is an early-stage business, we're particularly looking for someone who can think out-of-the-box and formulate innovative content pieces - such as market reports - that serve as marketing collateral.
The ideal candidate has very strong written and verbal communication skills and can think strategically about content for a complex developer product. We're looking for someone who can translate technical engineering concepts into engaging content and design an effective strategy to reach our key audiences.
The role involves opportunities to work with and learn from our expert investor network, as well as senior members of the Stitch leadership team, to craft a compelling & narrative voice for the business.
Responsibilities
Ideate, write, edit, proofread and improve Stitch's written content
Ensure that all of Stitch's public content uses the correct tone and voice of Stitch
Develop editorial calendar and set timelines for content brainstorming & delivery
Collaborate with various team members (especially sales and product) to produce high-quality content including customer testimonials, essays on the regulatory environment, and much, much more!
Collaborate, share best practices, tips & tricks, content and learnings with the Sales & Marketing teams
Monitor content metrics to continuously improve content quality, targeting and placement
Receive customer feedback and generate ideas to incorporate in content creation
Adapt content for social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.)
Requirements
4+ years industry experience as a Content Marketer, Copywriter or related professional
Excellent communication and writing skills in English, with previously published written pieces
Ability to absorb and communicate technical details clearly and accurately
Editorial mindset with an empathy & intuitive awareness of audience preferences
A dual-minded approach: You’re highly creative and an excellent writer but can also be process-driven, think scale, and rely on data to make decisions.
Advantageous
Hands-on experience with SEO and web traffic metrics
Strong network and content knowledge in the local Fintech or Banking space
Interest in Open Banking
Experience working in B2B SaaS, API or Payments companies
Strong knowledge of customers and customer needs in various key markets - including South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana
Experience at an agency in a relevant industry (ideally fintech, but experience at any highly complex or technical industry is helpful)
Social media management & strategy
A network of journalist contacts across the African continent
