Interacting with the immediate superior to establish and confirm priorities and schedules Comply with general reporting obligations and procedures regarding payroll
Adhere to OHS in terms of Council`s OHS policy Interacting with departments relating to enquiries, more detailed information Updating payroll information received from internal and external parties Ensure that Salaries, benefits and third parties are paid in accordance with the relevant legislation, collective agreements and policies Ensure system records are maintained and reflective of changes supporting accuracy and efficiency in the interpretation and conversion of input data Receiving/ Capture new appointment/s information of EPWP’s/ temps appointed and connect the employee/s to salary and deduction codes
Ensure that overtime and all allowances is captured by subordinates accurately Execute relevant deductions from various employees, extract all relevant reports Ensure accurate record keeping of all movements in the payroll processes during a month Balance salary suspense accounts and execute adjustments where necessary Handle all the daily enquiries, telephonically, written correspondences and verbally and give advice, when needed Compile relevant salary reports as prescribed by laid down policies and submit to the immediate superior
Ensure timeous submission of information and response to the Auditor General Ensure that human resources needs are identified and attended to, supporting the accomplishment of laid down objectives and compliance with specific standards in terms of productivity and performance.
Minimum Requirements:
A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification, preferably a National Diploma or BCom Degree with financial accounting as a major subject.
2 – 5 years relevant experience
Computer Skills (MS Office)
Knowledge of Financial Systems
Good Accounting and Calculation Skills
Proficient in at least two (2) of the three (3) official languages in the Western Cape
