Providing tax expertise in the defined tax area to ensure compliance with local and international tax laws and regulations. Acting as internal tax advisor in complex tax matters, coordinating resolution of tax is-sues.
Identifying tax planning opportunities and risks of non-compliance, proposes measures to mitigate risk and obtaining support from peers, group function heads and country/region management in implementing the measures.
Coordinating and ensuring development and implementing of relevant standards, processes, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of corporate tax matters is one of the areas of responsibilities.
Facilitating knowledge transfer, training activities and best practice sharing in the defined tax practice area.
Overseeing all tax accounting and reporting activities within the scope of own tax practice/area of responsibility. Ensuring correct tax numbers and disclosures in the quarterly and annual reports and financial statements of the ABB Group, including sign-off by the group auditors.
Liaising with tax authorities and similar in negotiations/dealings regionally/locally in tax policy matters within the defined tax practice (including transfer pricing for goods and services, contracting business, mergers and acquisitions, intra-group arrangements, tax accounting and reporting, HR taxes, indirect taxes, financing and tax litigation/planning projects).
Ensuring that internal controls over financial reporting processes are de-signed and performed effectively and efficiently in the respective areas of responsibility

Your background
Bachelor’s degree in Tax/Finance or Account. CA(SA) qualification will be advantageous, ideally you will be required to be a tax professional.
ABB requires a experienced tax manager with more than 7 years of relevant experience with strong tax technical background in South Africa and other Southern African Countries.
Should have ability to lead and inspire a team of tax professionals.
Must have advance experience in Tax.
Experienced to manage external advisors and managing the tax aspects of the Sub Sahara Africa region.
Excellent communication skills to adequately communicate with various local and international stakeholders.
