Master’s Degree in Biodiversity / Biodiversity-related field
Proven relevant experience working in a museum preferably as a curator with a demonstrated track record of competence and success
Research experience in a biodiversity-related field including integrated taxonomy as well as proven academic research and writing ability
Computer literacy in MS Office
Valid driver’s license.
Key Responsibilities include:
Assist in the identification of conservation requirements timeously and ensuring that these are addressed
Conducting fieldwork to ensure the strategic acquisition of specimens
Assessing specimens for inclusion in the mammalogy, ornithology and herpetology collections
Preparing fundraising proposals and ensuring the stewardship of Natural History unit grant agreements
Contributing to the development and implementation of Iziko’s over-arching exhibition strategy to ensure optimal educational heritage and societal benefits
Developing exhibition concepts, proposals and budgets in collaboration with other curators and exhibition designers
Contributing to site development strategy in consultation with relevant internal and external stakeholders
Contributing proactively to education and public programmes as required.
