    Senior Educator (Art)

    Requirements: 

    • Bachelor’s degree with diploma in education or Teachers Diploma with relevant specialisation in Art Education 
    • At least five years’ experience in education or public programmes 
    • Knowledge of Museum education and public programmes 
    • Understanding of CAPS 
    • Computer literacy in MS Office Suite 
    • Proof required of valid driver’s license.

    Key Responsibilities include: 

    • Manage Museum educators 
    • Report on education programmes 
    • Liaise with WCED and other relevant partners regarding the curriculum and programmes 
    • Initiate, developing, presenting and promoting collections-based education programmes and resources 
    • Overseeing education programmes, conduct guided tours, museum education activities, taking responsibility for management of a site and its activities.

    Requirements: 

    • Grade 12 
    • Diploma in Education (Science Focus) 
    • Ideal- Education degree (Science Focus) 
    • Driver’s license Experience in Teaching, training or tutoring experience with a science background and familiarity with the National curriculum

    Curator Terrestrial Vertebrates

    Requirements: 

    • Master’s Degree in Biodiversity / Biodiversity-related field 
    • Proven relevant experience working in a museum preferably as a curator with a demonstrated track record of competence and success 
    • Research experience in a biodiversity-related field including integrated taxonomy as well as proven academic research and writing ability 
    • Computer literacy in MS Office 
    • Valid driver’s license. 

    Key Responsibilities include: 

    • Assist in the identification of conservation requirements timeously and ensuring that these are addressed 
    • Conducting fieldwork to ensure the strategic acquisition of specimens

    Curator Art New Media & Photography

    Requirements: 

    • Master’s Degree in Art History, Art Theory, Art Practice, or equivalent 
    • Experience, working in an Art Museum or Gallery, or conducting university-level research/teaching 
    • Relevant Museological knowledge to take full responsibility for curatorial functions 
    • Proven record of research excellence and publication of a high international standard

    Key Responsibilities include:

    Curator Contemporary Art

    Requirements: 

    • Master’s Degree in Art History, Art Theory, Art Practice, or equivalent 
    • Experience, working in an Art Museum or Gallery, or conducting university-level research/teaching 
    • Proven track record of research, curation, publication, and/or postgraduate teaching/study/research in South African art 
    • Proven track record of exhibitions locally and/or internationally 
    • Particular interest and curatorial experience in contemporary South African art 
    • Computer literacy.

    Curator Art for Global Africa

    Requirements: 

    • Master’s Degree in Art History, Art Theory, Art Practice, or equivalent – with specialisation in historical forms of artistic production from South Africa, the African continent and the African diaspora 
    • Experience, working in an Art Museum or Gallery, or conducting university-level research/teaching 
    • Proven track record of curation, publication, and postgraduate teaching/study/research in South African art, art from the African continent, or art of the African diaspora

    • Reinterpreting the permanent Historical African Art Collection (include various artworks across multiple mediums) and building the collection in line with the institutional collection development strategy 
    • Conducting research to ensure strategic knowledge generation outputs are met 
    • Communicate specialist research findings to the public through publications, exhibitions, popular articles, website and public programmes such as guided tours and panel discussions 
    • Preparing fundraising proposals and ensuring the stewardship of the relevant grant agreements

    Exhibition Designer (3D)

    Requirements: 

    • Bachelor’s degree relevant to Exhibition Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Fine Arts or Architecture , or related field Proven experience in high-quality design and production (exhibition design or potential to develop as an exhibition designer will be an advantage) 
    • Experience with 3D modelling and rendering software (such as SketchUp, AutoCAD, Rhino, or similar tools) and Adobe InDesign and Illustrator 
    • Computer literacy in MS Office 365 
    • Valid driver’s licence.

    • Produce imaginative, creative and original exhibitions designs

    Communications Coordinator

    Requirements: 

    • Degree or Diploma in Communication. Ideal: Honours Degree in Communication 
    • Driver’s License 
    • Membership of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA)
