    Data and MI Analyst

    Job Overview

    To work as a data expert within the Global Marketing team taking ownership and accountability for the provision of accurate and up-to-date performance data for our funds and activity. The primary use will be MIS with our creative services and digital marketing teams for marketing collateral, presentations, and reporting.

    In addition, we will look for this data analyst to lead the organisation and analysis of the data from our owned marketing activities such as emails and websites. This data needs to be organised to provide views on what is resonating with our audiences and ideally lead to insights that better inform our marketing activities.

    The jobholder must be comfortable working under pressure, particularly during peak reporting periods and have a strong understanding of investment fund and strategy data.

    We are looking for a confident self-starter with a high level of attention to detail. The jobholder must be able to build relationships quickly across various teams including IT, Investment Performance and Reporting as well as Investment Operations. Proactive and analytical, the jobholder must be able to resolve data issues with minimal ongoing support.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Working with performance, reporting and creatives services marketing teams to ensure performance data is fed accurately via performance files and automation feeds

    • Responsible for ensuring updates are correctly passed into the files being referenced for reporting presentations and packs

    • Establishing a strong working relationship with IT, Performance and Creative Services teams to ensure ongoing open communication

    • Maintaining and proactively optimising data files and automation templates, to ensure robust performance and maintaining their long-term usability

    • Be comfortable tracing back to source data and deciphering complex formulas in the absence of file instructions

    • Maintain and develop the VBA code automating manual processes within Excel, and building new solutions for related problems using these techniques

    • Identifying and resolving errors and troubleshooting anomalies within the data files and feeds timeously

    • Providing ongoing input and guidance into the enhancements and developments for long term data integration and storage requirements

    • Acting as an expert on our CMS (Seismic), staying up-to-date with platform enhancements and working across teams (Marketing, Client Ops, Reporting Solutions) to ensure consistency and efficiency as functionality is leveraged

    • Working across data sources to bring inputs together in a consumable and usable format for consumers across Global Marketing

    • Ensuring an in-depth understanding of the performance data across regional markets

    • In addition to the performance data around funds and strategies, will also work with all the data points generated from our content library and website to report on usage, find insight for ongoing improvement and specific campaign effectiveness metrics.

     

    Candidate Requirements

    Technical Knowledge and Experience:

    • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

    • Financial services experience – preferably buy side experience with and understanding of asset management products

    System Skills:

    • 5 to 8 years’ experience with Excel & VBA – the candidate must have very strong Excel skills including a good understanding of VBA as coding and de-bugging code are integral to this role.

    • Proven experience of building automated dashboards in Excel or other tools

    • Knowledge of widely used Excel formulas such as, VLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH, INDIRECT, SUMIF, IFERROR

    • Proficient in debugging and resolving formulas

    • Creating, improving and maintaining complex charts within Excel

    • BI experience –MI/BI background that have used tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik

    • Ability to quickly understand how our data is structured and the entity relationships between different data

    Personal Attributes:

    • Comfortable working as a subject matter expert in a wider team

    • Ability to build strong relationships across different departments

     

    Risk and Compliance Responsibilities

    • Adhering to the Code of Ethics and related policies, including personal account dealing, gifts, market abuse, etc.

    • Ensuring Compliance training, declarations and relevant forms are completed on a timely basis

    • Ensuring that firm and client data and property, including IT data, are properly protected

    • Reporting any possible and actual breaches, errors, complaints or conduct issues.

    • Reporting any suspicion that a client, investor, or employee may be involved in money laundering, fraud or other crime such as market abuse
