Data Modeller I - Randburg at FNB South Africa

Purpose

• To provide expertise, advice and support by executing data modelling standards, principles, frameworks and tools within area of accountability; under guidance and supervision designing and developing of logical and physical data models and databases to meet the needs of the organisation's information systems and business requirements; and coordinate and proritise data modelling within business area  

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum Qualification - Computer Science, Data Science, Technical Science or relevant Information Systems Degree
• Preferred Qualification - Relevant Honours Degree
• Experience - 3 to 4 years experience in a data environment with hands-on relational, dimensional, and/or analytic experience experience (using relational database management systems (RDBMS), dimensional, NoSQL data platform technologies, and extract, transform, load (ETL) and data ingestion protocols). Experience with data warehouse, data lake, and enterprise big data platforms in multi-data-center contexts required
• Additional Knowledge - Knowledge of logical data modelling, and use of industry data models (e.g., IBM, Teradata, etc.). Understanding of the Inmon methodology

Responsibilities

• Control expenditure and identify process improvements to contain and reduce costs
• Compile reports that track progress and guide business to make informed decisions
• Ensure development and continuous value add improvement to operational processes
• Manages risks in own area of responsibility
• Develop and maintain the business matrix to manage the flow of information between departments using the data model design
• Create logical and physical data models for new and existing projects using industry best practice to ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy
• Develop, encourage and nurture collaborative relationships across area of specialisation
• Display and encourage an appreciation of teamwork and inclusivity
• Participate in planned activities that are appropriate for own development
• Apply a customer-centric approach to ensure customer satisfaction.
