Robert Walters is hiring a Data Privacy Analyst to join our Johannesburg team. The Data Privacy Analyst will handle Data Subject Rights (DSR) requests and support their privacy program operations.
This exciting opportunity will see you play a critical role in ensuring compliance with global data privacy regulations, including GDPR and POPIA. As a Data Privacy Analyst, you will manage DSR requests from individuals across the world, predominantly from the UK and Europe, relating to data access, deletion, and other privacy rights. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Privacy Legal Counsels, Information Security, Data Management, Technology, and Marketing to ensure accurate and timely resolutions.
The scope of this role includes triaging incoming queries, identifying requesters (candidates, client contacts, or employees), and applying appropriate processes while maintaining professionalism and empathy. You will also contribute to key projects that scale and mature the company’s privacy program while supporting internal teams in responding to data protection incidents under the guidance of Privacy Legal Counsel.

Key Qualifications
Proven experience in query-handling, customer service, or operations roles (preferred within technology, SaaS, or professional services).
A genuine interest in data privacy and compliance regulations.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Fluency in English is essential.
Experience in data protection or privacy compliance (preferred).
Working understanding of GDPR (preferred).
Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Purview, Mimecast, or Adobe (training provided).
Key Duties
Handle and triage DSR requests globally, ensuring timely responses aligned with legal requirements.
Manage multiple privacy-related mailboxes as the primary point of contact for inquiries.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex or sensitive DSRs.
Review client data protection questionnaires using defined source materials.
Support continuous improvement of operational processes for handling DSR requests efficiently.
Track and assist with privacy incident response activities alongside cybersecurity teams.
Contribute to privacy impact assessments (PIAs) for new technologies or processing activities involving personal data.
