Managed Talent Solutions client in the mining sector is looking for a Data Protection Lead/ Manager with experience in developing and overseeing data protection strategies, ensuring secure handling of sensitive information (intellectual property, personal data, operational data) throughout its lifecycle in IT and OT ecosystems. This will be a 12 month FTC with the possibility to extend. Must have at least 7 years relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and implement data classification, data loss prevention (DLP), and encryption standards.
Work with business units to identify sensitive data flows and implement appropriate controls.
Oversee data privacy and compliance efforts (GDPR, local data protection regulations, IP protection requirements).
Collaborate with IT, OT, and legal teams to maintain data governance frameworks.
Lead investigations and remediation efforts for data breaches or data leakage incidents.
Stay current with evolving data protection regulations and industry best practices, adjusting policies as required.
Manage vendor relationships for data protection technologies and services (encryption tools, DLP platforms, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field.
7+ years of experience in data protection, privacy, or related cybersecurity roles.
Strong knowledge of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry data protection standards.
Experience with DLP solutions, encryption technologies, and data governance methodologies.
Familiarity with OT data flows and operational data protection requirements (e.g., design/engineering data).
Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPT, CDPSE) are highly beneficial.
