DBA (Database Administrator) - Private Capital at Burgiss

About the role: 

• We are seeking a new team member to contribute to the development, monitoring and maintenance of our Private Capital Solutions databases, both internal and client-facing. As a cross-disciplinary member of our development and IT teams, this team member will focus primarily on production database support and administration, overseeing data replication, backup and recovery procedures and schedules, resource planning, query tuning/optimization and performance monitoring. As time permits, the role will require additional work in the areas of SQL development support.
• Our technology stack includes but is not limited to SQL Server, PowerShell, .NET Core, Azure, AzureDevOps, Kubernetes, Node.js, RESTful APIs, and Git. 

Responsibilities include:

• Install, configure, upgrade and tune Microsoft SQL Server databases
• Monitor database performance and resource utilization
• Manage and monitor SQL Microsoft Server Transactional Replication publications
• Ensure best practices for database backup and recovery
• Configure and manage database security settings
• Implement query and indexing optimizations
• Provide leadership for adherence to SQL best practices and standards
• Create, maintain and troubleshoot SQL Agent jobs for data and index maintenance

Required Qualifications and skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Strong database design and development experience
• 5+ years experience as a SQL Server DBA
• 3+ years experience with SQL Server Transactional replication
• Experience managing Transparent Data Encryption
• Experience reading SQL Server query execution plans
• Experience with SolarWinds DPA monitoring and SQL Dynamic Management Views (dmv)
• Experience with tools like sp_Blitz and sp_WhoisActive
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Stable internet connection and set up for remote work in the case of loadshedding. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all project team members and stakeholders (locally and globally) is essential. 

Additional Qualifications

• Experience with deployment automation using TFS and DACPAC
• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
