Job Description

• The purpose of the Bakery Assistant is to assist in the manufacturing of yeast-based bakery products to quality standards according to the Bakery manager’s production plans. To perform tasks of a repetitive nature as requested by management.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or NQF4
• Passionate about food, people, and cleanliness
• Understanding of cold chain and hygiene protocols
• Minimum 1 years’ experience in a Fresh Food Counter Sales environment
• Clean Criminal Record  

Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Serve customers in a knowledgeable, friendly, and professional manner.
• Take orders accurately and provide product advice.

Stock Control

• Replenish stock, check expiry dates, and apply FIFO (First-In, First-Out).
• Ensure displays are full, attractive, and free from damaged or expired goods.
• Always maintain sufficient stock of Key Value Items (KVIs).
• Build and maintain enticing product displays and promotional layouts.
• Prepack and label products correctly with barcodes, pricing, and sell-by dates.
• Clean display cabinets, tools, and preparation areas throughout the day.
• Follow strict hygiene and food safety standards.
