    Deputy Chief Information Officer

    Key Purpose
    the delivery of strategic IT services for Insure, achieved through:

    • The procurement of IT services as required, and associated vendor management activities (appointment/termination, implementing SLAs etc)
    • Proactive management of IT service delivery within the organisation through participation in internal governance forums
    • The management and development of relationships with internal and external stakeholders at the appropriate levels (strategic and operational), and
    • Driving innovation to further enable the business by seeking out IT solutions to challenges experienced by the business

    Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to

    • Effective Delivery of Systems: Systems are delivered to business in line with expectation and within cost, quality, reliability and timeline parameters
    • Cost and Efficiency Metrics: Cost and efficiency metrics are within acceptable levels. A balance between technical tax and innovation is achieved
    • Demand Management: Processes and structures exist which enable differentiation and prioritisation of demands placed on Systems Business Unit i.e. separation of the ‘real needs’ from the ‘sexy stuff’
    • Relationship Management: Relationships with key stakeholders are developed such that significant system outages or related system issues are managed through the relationship and not through the formal business hierarchy i.e. the ‘need’ by the stakeholder to escalate to the COO is removed
    • Company Growth Rates: Ensuring satisfactory growth rates necessitates enabling the company’s to do well by providing guidance, managerial coaching and where possible, unique products to help the company grow. May require regular meetings with company directors not performing well
    • Adherence to Budget: Ensuring adherence to budget and other target staff efficiency levels

    • Matric
    • Masters Degree (Informatics) – Advantageous
    • Masters in another field

    Minimum Experience

    • 10 years Information Technology experience
    • 5 years IT at Strategic level experience
    • 10 years Insurance operations experience - Advantageous
    • Service Delivery/Strategic Systems delivery experience
