Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• 4 year honors degree in Library Science or Information Science (BTech BBibl BInfo (Hon) or equivalent)
• Master’s degree in library and information Science or appropriate or relevant field/equivalent
• 4 years’ experience in an appropriate level of management in a higher education library or research environment

Other requirements

• For this position an equal presence on the Bellville and D6 campuses will be mandatory.

• User and Client Services Planning and Management
• Collection Development and Management
• Staff Recruitment, Placements and Professional Development
• Developing and implementing Information and Digital Literacy Programmes
• Provision of Reference and Research assistance in the library to all users
• Development of Library Digital Services and Scholarly Communication platforms
• Marketing and promoting use of library services and resources
• Client Surveys, User Experience programmes
• Quality Assurance and Risk management
• Coordinating the development and utilization of Library spaces
• Project Management
