    Senior Laboratory Assistant (Internal Vacancy)

    Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    • Matric Certificate and registered as a medical laboratory assistant with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
    • At least 2 years’ experience in a medical laboratory environment.

    Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

    • Assist with the preparation and issue of practical class material including media, stains, and reagents.
    • Prepare equipment for use in the practical laboratories.
    • Ensure that laboratory safety regulations are maintained.
    • Storage and disposal of chemicals, reagents, media, and specimens in accordance with safety regulations.
    • Store keeping - monitor stock and consumable levels and ensure correct storage requirements are maintained. Maintain inventories of all assets in the laboratories.
    • Housekeeping - cleaning of all used equipment and glassware.
    • General maintenance of small laboratory equipment, and the laboratory environment and working surfaces.
    • Photocopying - preparation of notes and other required documentation for lecturers and staff required.

    Lecturer (Permanent)/Junior Lecturer (5-Year Contract): Nuclear Medicine Technology (Re-Advertisement) - (7608)

    Minimum requirements for Lecturer (Permanent):

    • A Masters degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or equivalent qualification.
    • At least two years lecturing experience at higher education institution and/or four years’ clinical experience in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
    • Registration with the HPCSA as a Radiographer.
    • Experience in clinical supervision of Nuclear Medicine Technology students (recommended).
    • A postgraduate qualification in Higher Education (recommended).
    • Preference will be given to applicants with lecturing experience.

    Minimum requirement for Junior Lecturer (5-year Contract):

    • A BTech/BSc degree or equivalent in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
    • At least one year lecturing experience at higher education institution and/or three years’ clinical experience in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
    • Registration with the HPCSA as a Radiographer.
    • Current and updated Continuous Professional Development portfolio.

    The appointment at Junior Lecturer level is a 5-year contract subject to completion of Masters degree qualification within this period. Upon completion of the Masters qualification, conversion to permanent and at Lecturer level will be subject to institutional governance for approval.

    Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

    • Lecturing to students and conducting assessments of various subject areas in Nuclear Medicine Technology at BSc level.
    • Conduct clinical teaching and training in Nuclear Medicine Technology including tutorials, practical demonstrations and assessments at all levels, covering all relevant areas within Nuclear Medicine Technology and liaison with clinical facilities in which work integrated learning takes place.
    • Partake in clinical teaching for the Provincial Department of Health, Western Cape Government and private practices.
    • Assist with the coordination of the Nuclear Medicine Technology programme and liaison with clinical facilities in which work integrated learning takes place.
    • Academic and clinical programme planning and management, inclusive of associated organization and administrative duties.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Masters’ Degree in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology.
    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as psychologist.

    Recommendation

    Senior Lecturer: Industrial Engineering - (7619)

    Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    • A Doctoral degree in Industrial/ Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, Technology Management or related discipline.
    • All underpinning qualifications in industrial/ Systems Engineering
    • A minimum four (4) years of academic experience in higher education or relevant industrial experience at the appropriate senior level.
    • Proven ability to lecture at the postgraduate level, including Master’s, Postgraduate Diploma, and Advanced Diploma courses.
    • Demonstrated experience in supervising postgraduate students, with a successful track record in line with institutional requirements.
    • Evidence of research publications in reputable academic journals and platforms.
    • Currently registered with, or eligible to register with, the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or in the relevant category within 12 months of appointment.
