Deputy Head (Projects) at eThekwini Municipality

Key Responsibility Areas

• Facilitates a process of low income and special need housing development.
• Designs an appropriate mix of housing delivery models, capable of providing a range choices.
• Consults with and advises other service Units within Council.
• Manages and controls staff.
• Keeps abreast of relevant legislation and makes suggestions to Head (Housing).
• Assists the Head (Housing) in formulating strategic direction for the Housing Unit.
• Plans the Department's activities and implements the Department's plans.
• Formulates capital and operating budgets.
• Monitors and reviews performance within the Department and reports findings to the Head (Housing), seeking direction as required.
• Deals with ad hoc issues that arise which fall within the terms of reference of the Department.

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in the Built Environment field.
• Project Management Certificate.
• Valid motor vehicle driving license.
• 8 years’ experience at a management level of which at least 3 years must be at a senior management level.
• Computer Literacy.

Preferred Requirements

• Post graduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in the Built environment.
• Registration with the South African Council for Project and Construction Management
• Professions (SACPMP) or any other accredited Professional Body within the Built Environment.
