    Manager (Research And Policy)

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Advise the Council on key aspects of housing in the Durban Metropolitan Area.
    • Formulate draft policy on housing aspects.
    • Review and update the Strategic Housing Framework for the Durban Metropolitan Area and Housing Assistance Programmes.
    • Provide input into the Metro Housing Unit business plan.
    • Ensure that all existing and new housing policies and programmes within the Durban Metropolitan Area are implemented, monitored, evaluated and reviewed.

    Deputy Head (Projects)

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Facilitates a process of low income and special need housing development.
    • Designs an appropriate mix of housing delivery models, capable of providing a range choices.

    Clerk of Works - Durban

    Key Responsibility Areas

    Artisan (Roads And Stormwater)

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Interprets and co-ordinates specific pre-work/ site requirements associated with repairs and planned, predictive maintenance.
    • Controls personnel, performance, productivity and discipline.
    • Executes specialized/ trade related tasks and monitors and evaluates progress with regards to road and storm-water construction, repair and maintenance work.

    • Trade Tested Artisan in the Civil Construction industry or equivalent.
    • Valid motor vehicle driving license (Code C1).
    • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
    • Valid certification of competency in the operation of truck mounted cranes or to be obtained within 6 months from the date of appointment.
    • Certification in Basic First Aid to be completed within 6 months from date of appointment.
    • 3 years relevant post qualification experience.

    Road Plant Operator

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Performs specific tasks/activities at the Asphalt Plant and worksite prior to and on completion of allocated assignments. Inspecting safety devices, controls, lubricant levels etc. on vehicles and reports defects to the Senior Assistant.
    • Transporting personnel, material and equipment to/from specific locations.
    • Completes internal transactional documentation (e.g. tally sheets, log sheet, progress reports and related forms (vehicle checklist).
    • Performs specific tasks associated with the operation of heavy specialised mechanical plant (e.g. Grader, Front End Loader, Crane Truck, Roller, Paver, Milling Machine) and vehicles (Tip Trucks, Water Trucks etc.)
    • Controlling the utilisation of materials (sand, stone, crusher run, etc.) and discharging/offloading required quantities of materials for repair or construction work.
    • Driving and manoeuvring heavy mechanical plant and engaging controls to operate mechanisms to enable digging, loading, grading, levelling, rolling and paving etc

    Essential Requirements

    • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
    • Valid certification of competency in the operation of truck mounted cranes and operation of Heavy Plant.
    • Valid motor vehicle driving license (Code EC).
    • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
    • 2 Years relevant experience. 

    Preferred Requirements

    • 3 Years relevant experience.
