Design Engineer at Belgotex Floors

The purpose of the R&D Designer is to design, develop and research creative new design colour trends to ensure Belgotex is at the forefront and are the best in carpet design.

The Design Engineer will be responsible for producing design with the knowledge of the company’s manufacturing process. You will be working with the Design Engineering Team including the Head of Design Engineering who you will be reporting into.

SPAN OF CONTROL

This position will form part of the R&D Team and will report into the Head of Design Engineering.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & OUTPUTS

• Investigating market trends
• Design product specifications for the application its going into in terms of residential, hospitality and commercial.
• Design for custom orders according to the product specifications requested from the Sales Team.
• Design different Tufting and Needlepunch machines on the different programs.
• Responsible for launching products about ¾ times a year.
• Participate in Sales and Marketing meetings for direction.

REQUIREMENTS

• At least 3 years working experience within a design space (interior design/fabric design/retail design)
• Sound knowledge of Belgotex manufacturing process is advantageous.
• Proficiency on MS Office 365 (excel/PowerPoint/Word)
• Previous experience working on a Design software/Textile software (For example; coral draw/Adobe)
• Must have a passion and aptitude for colour and design trends
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to converse at all levels
• Trustworthiness and confidentiality is a must
• Previous experience in working in a highly pressurized environment
• Must be detail oriented, accurate and well organized
• Must be resourceful, work as a team player as well as independently
• Ability to meet urgent deadlines, organize and prioritize projects
• Must have an aptitude for design, colour and art.
• Previous experience in creating/building a design portfolio is advantageous
• Based in KZN and willing to travel or relocate to PMB.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12 / Matric with mathematics or math’s literacy.
• Must have a Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Textile Graphic Design or a relevant qualification.
