Design Office Manager at Multiform Human Development

Job Description

• We're seeking an experienced design leader with a passion for innovation, product development and manufacturing excellence. The successful candidate will combine strong technical capability with proven leadership experience and a practical understanding of heavy engineering and mineral processing equipment.

Required Qualifications

• B.Eng., B.Tech. or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 8-10 years' experience in mechanical design within mining, mineral processing, heavy engineering or industrial manufacturing.
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience leading a design office, engineering design team or drawing office.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to manufacturing facilities and project sites when required.
• Technical Skills

Engineering Design

• Heavy fabricated equipment design.
• Mineral processing equipment design.
• Plant layout development.
• Structural steel detailing.
• Mechanical design principles.
• Sheet metal and platework design.
• Piping design and routing.
• Welding and fabrication practices.
• Design for Manufacture (DFM).
• Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Design for Maintainability (DFMt).
• Modular plant design.
• CAD Systems

Advanced proficiency in:

• Autodesk Inventor Professional.
• Autodesk Vault Professional.
• Autodesk AutoCAD.
• Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong understanding of:

• Workshop fabrication processes.
• Machining limitations.
• Platework fabrication.
• Structural fabrication.
• Welding processes.
• Surface treatment and painting.
• Assembly practices.
• Quality control.
• Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
• Engineering Documentation

Experience preparing and reviewing:

• General Arrangement Drawings.
• Detail Drawings.
