Job description
Trend Research and Concept Development (Pre-Season)
Assist with global trend research using various platforms such as WGSN, catwalks, blogs, look books, online retailers and social media for design inspiration and concept development.
Conduct store visits to understand trends, product performance, assortment balance and customer experience (online and in-store).
Collaborate with the team to generate new product ideas based on research.
Design and Product Development in line with Critical Path
Ensure designs are in line with business strategy and customer demands
Provide inspiration highlighting key graphic and print developments for the season to enable range build
Input into the continuity workshops with buying & technology ensuring high level messages from trend are adopted
Continuously update items per category in line with shifts in trade
Develop product technical packs, coordinating with buying and technical product developer post continuity workshop
Update Technical packs where appropriate, once styling has been established in range build workshops
Influence the range build by consulting with buying to ensure well-balanced assortment in colour, fabrics and key items that reflect the design brief.
Attend and influence concept fit with Buying and Technical Product Development when necessary.
Collaborate and Communication with Stakeholders
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align and bring design concepts to life and align them with business strategy.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure smooth transitions between design, sourcing, and product development.
Provide creative direction and guidance to team members to bring design concepts to fruition.
Collaborate with buying teams to ensure well-balanced assortments and incorporate design briefs into product ranges.
Handover of Technical Packs to Production department to ensure seamless execution thereof.
Present design ideas to stakeholders for feedback and approval.
Minimum requirements
Relevant design diploma/degree
A bachelor’s in design or fine arts is preferred
Min 2-3 years of local or international design experience in fashion design or a related field
Computer literate and proficient at an advanced level in Adobe suite
