Digital Products Development Engineer at Epiroc

• The Digital Products Engineer will lead our aspiration to establish a range of digital, IoT and electronic products for the Ground Support segment and to integrate these products into the global Epiroc Digital eco-system. The Digital Products Engineer will be responsible for the full product development life-cycle, from conceptualisation through to market launch, and will work closely with both internal and external support resources, as well as customers, to develop market leading technologies and solutions. The successful candidate will report into the Ground Support R&D team with offices based in Johannesburg South and will enjoy a dynamic and empowering work environment that provides opportunity for personal development and access to a global career path within the Epiroc group.

The core responsibilities of the role will include:

• Participate in global customer engagement via the marketing team to understand customer requirements and conceptualise solutions.
• Design, develop and validate scalable product solutions to meet these customer requirements.
• Project Management of internal and outsourced development activities and resources, globally.
• Advance the IoT and Mining 4.0 competency of the business line.   
• Professional communication both written and verbal.

Requirements for Success

• A driven and top-achieving Engineer with a minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electronic or Electromechanical Engineering. (Masters preferred).
• Able to demonstrate a history of competence and achievement within the Electromechanical Engineering field.
• Ability to problem solve and self-teach new skills and knowledge needed to advance your work.
• Aptitude to lead the development of innovative digital technology within a high-pace technical environment.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, self-manage, self-prioritise and action accordingly.

Advantageous Experience

• Experience in IoT technologies and the mining environment with an understanding of the ground support cycle and equipment.
• Experience in technical product development.
