Must have a PhD degree in a science-related degree with a preference in either Physics, Chemistry, Mathematical and Computational Sciences and/or Biological Sciences
Have good knowledge and experience in science communication.
Have five years’ experience in a management position together with three years’ experience in science center environments or science communication OR Have five years of engagement in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and learners support at the tertiary level.
Director Duties:
Develop and implement the Science Center business strategy, annual operation plan, and budgeting exercise in line with the University of Venda policies – working closely with the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Agriculture to ensure it fits into the operational and strategic plan of the Faculty and the university.
Coordinate, monitor, and drive the strategy implementation for the learners in STEM-related subjects.
Be active in fundraising and coordinating collaboration with different stakeholders
Management of financial, compliance, and statutory requirements, including Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
Management of support services within the center and the relevant service providers.
Development of program feedback and evaluation measures for future review and assessment of the Vuwani Science Resource Centre - this includes helping with the implementation thereof.
Drafting of contracts and policies, including procedures and manuals for the efficient operation of the centre and its implementation thereof
Development (where necessary) and implementation of operational systems to support smooth Vuwani Science Resource Centre operations.
Regular on-site school support visits for schools and teachers in the subject, which will include team teaching and demonstration lessons
Make sure regular reports as per Faculty and Univen requirements are prepared for the Executive Dean’s approval before the reports are submitted outside the faculty.
